The final morning of my short break in Coniston, I decided to spend a few hours taking a walk along the lake. It was a grey day, but still pleasant walking beside the water.
Starting near the jetty I cut across to Coniston Hall and then followed the lakeside path through Torver Woods before retracing my steps before paying a brief visit to the village and heading back to Shepherd’s Bridge to collect my car and set off back home.
Coniston Hall looks like how I imagine Wuthering Heights.
Good observation 👍 Coniston Hall was the home of a wealthy landowner so not unlike Wuthering Heights in that respect. The style is typical of The Lake District / North Lancashire and the moors of north Yorkshire aren’t too far away
Have stayed at the campsite at Coniston Hall. Good memories. 😁
Me too, but many years ago during my fist stay in Coniston when I was a teenager (and Coniston was still in Lancashire! 🌹) then later in my mid twenties. These days though I prefer the comfort of a good b&b 😉
Its hard to imagine that Coniston was once in Lancashire. A good b&b has its advantages!
Well, that looks like a walk I could manage. Beautiful building and overall lovely area judging by your photos.
Yes, a much easier walk! And very scenic. John Ruskin used to live on the other side of the Lake. I snapped a photo of his house, Brantwood, but didn’t include it in the post
