Back in Amsterdam

I hadn’t been home for long following my trip to Galway and Naas before I was back at Manchester airport, this time to take a plane to Amsterdam. We were off with our son to take a holiday and see our daughter who’s living there.

We were staying on the edge of Oud Zuit across from the Olympic Stadium in a very nice apart-hotel, Twenty Eight. We arrived around two o’clock on a very fine, but cold afternoon so after checking in we dumped our bags and took the number 24 tram which stopped right outside the hotel into the city centre to meet up with our daughter and her boyfriend and spent a couple of hours wandering round the top end of the canal ring. Here’s  a few photos.

    • Of the five days we were there 3 were bright and sunny, but cold. The other couple of days were grey (and cold!). But tge sunny days gave some good photo opportunities

      • Yes we were lucky. Just a little rain, but not heavy, on the Monday afternoon. Overall good weather for mooching – so long as you were well wrapped up. I’d neglected to tale a scarf with me and soon regretted that when we arrived and the shops in the centre had sold out of them. But I managed to pick one up on the Albert Cuyp market on Monday.
